Dr. Mark A. Creager is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Senior Physician of the Cardiovascular Medicine Division, Director of the Vascular Center, and the Simon C. Fireman Scholar in Cardiovascular Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Creager earned his medical degree at Temple University in Philadelphia. He completed his internship, medical residency, and fellowships in Vascular Medicine and Cardiology at University Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Creager’s major research and clinical interests are in vascular medicine, specifically vascular regulatory mechanisms and the effect of treatment on patients with peripheral artery disease. His laboratory studies the effects of atherosclerosis and ricks factors for atherosclerosis, including hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, and hypertension, on endothelial function in humans. He is an editor of the textbook, Vascular Medicine, and the editor of the journals, Vascular Medicine and Current Treatment Options in Cardiovascular Medicine, a guest editor for Circulation and a member of the editorial board of Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology, and European Heat Journal. Dr. Creager is Past President of the Vascular Disease Foundation, Past President and Master of the Society for Vascular Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Heart Association, theAmericanCollege of Cardiology, and the American Physiological Society, and a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation. He is the author of more than 300 published contributions to the medical literature, including research papers on vascular function and clinical trials of peripheral artery disease, book chapters, and monographs on vascular disease.
